Final Exam Presentation
- Your presentation should be 4-8 minutes long. You will be deducted points if you go under 4 minutes.
- You cannot use PowerPoint for this presentation. You can choose to create a poster board, a writing soundtrack, an interpretative dance, a YouTube documentary, or anything else within the creative sphere. For the presentation, if you decide to create a video, you must show it and then talk about the process and how it reflects whichever option you have chosen.
- If you want to collaborate, you can, but all participants must talk for a minimum of 4 minutes.
- As for the topic, you have two options:
- Metacognition: Reflect on your writing process and growth or deterioration (I hope not!) from the beginning of the term to the end of the term. This reflection will require you to discuss creatively all four assignments.
- Proposal: Creatively discuss the proposal and your solution to your peers. I want you to have fun with this assignment. Make sure audience understands the problem and that a clear solution is given. If you feel the need to use software, you can use a Prezi, not PowerPoint.
- There will be a Q&A session for each presenter after each presentation. Please be prepared to answer questions as well as ask questions. Everyone must ask at least 1 question or be deducted 20 points for lack of participation.
- You will turn in your note cards/poster/craft, so please make sure they are grammatically correct. Check spelling, too!
- If you are absent for the final exam, you will automatically fail this course. Please do not be absent!
- Please do not be tardy for this class. If you are late, your grade will reflect the tardiness with a point deduction.
- Please be RESPECTFUL. It takes a lot of courage to get in front of peers and express oneself in a creative manner. Therefore, if I see or hear any cell phones, I will deduct 5 points for each time there is a disturbance. If you leave the room between presentations, you must wait outside until the presenter is finished. If you knock on the door during the presentation, your grade will be docked 5 points. Lastly, you must show respect by clapping after each presentation. Clap loudly because you are celebrating the final moments in COMM-1110! :-)
- You do not have to dress in any kind of business attire, but please do not chew gum during your presentation. If I see gum, I will deduct 10 points.
- Typically, I have students write a reflective final exam, but this term I really want to try to bring some excitement to the end of this course. We've been writing on a daily basis for almost four full months, so have fun with this final exam!
Hello Professor, I just have a few questions for you about the final. I tried to give you a call, but the number on the syllabus is not working. I would like to start on it tomorrow, so I just thought I would give you a list. I will not be at school till 11:30am 0r 12:00pm tomorrow. I know you have a lot to do, but if you could please answer these questions for me I would be grateful.
ReplyDelete1. Do we have to follow our proposals exactly how it is written?
2. Do we have to do a work cited if we use a video off of YouTube for our opening?
3. Do we have to do a work cited for graphs and pictures for the poster board?
4. All you want is us to make sure we show the problem, solution, and call to action?
5. Is it ok if we do not use any cards or outlines?
6. What day is the final do on?
THANK YOU!
Tina, I've been receiving and making calls, so I'm not sure what happened when you tried to call me. As for your questions, here are the answers:
Delete1. If you choose option 2, the written proposal will serve as an outline for you presentation.
2. No.
3. No.
4. For option 2, yes. Do so in a creative way because I don't want it to be like a business presentation.
5. It is okay, but I will collect the poster board and any materials you use for grading.
6. Presentations begin on the last day of class, which is Thursday of next week, and they will continue on the date of the final exam. Attendance is required for both classes. As for the final exam time, you should consult the Readin' and Remixin' page because each class is different, and the time might differ from normal class time, too.
If you have any other questions, please let me know!
Best, Prof. P
